How I Handcraft Sterling Silver Jewellery in the UK
In a world of mass-produced jewellery, true handcrafted sterling silver pieces are becoming rare.
At Silver Squid Jewellery, every ring, pendant, and cuff begins at the bench — formed from solid sterling silver, shaped by hand, and finished with care in my Lincolnshire workshop.
There are no factories behind these pieces. No production lines. Just fire, tools, and time.
Why Handmade Matters
When jewellery is handmade, no two pieces are ever truly identical.
Each hammer strike, each filed edge, each engraved detail becomes part of the final story. That individuality is what separates handcrafted jewellery from something machine-made.
It’s jewellery with character.
Working With Recycled Sterling Silver
Much of my work uses recycled sterling silver. Old silver is melted down, refined, and reborn into something entirely new.
This process reduces waste while maintaining the same strength and quality you expect from 925 sterling silver.
Every finished piece is:
• Solid 925 sterling silver
• Fully assayed
• Hallmarked with our Sheffield mark
• Made in the UK
From Raw Stone to Finished Piece
Whether it’s turquoise from Nevada, Ethiopian opal, malachite stalactite, or sapphire — each stone is chosen for its individuality.
The bezel is formed by hand.
The band is shaped and soldered.
The piece is cleaned, polished, and sent for hallmarking.
Only then is it ready to leave the workshop.
Jewellery Built To Last
Good jewellery should feel solid. Weighty. Designed to age well.
These aren’t disposable accessories — they’re pieces built to outlast trends.
